Beginning last Halloween, our APhA-ASP chapter began participating in trunk or treat events in conjunction with the city of Searcy, AR and a local church. These events are held on the day of Halloween to provide a safe place for children to go trick-or-treating and enjoy various Halloween festivities with other children from the community. In addition to handing out candy, we provided flyers for the families, educating them on the difference between a cold and the flu. We and also advised them on the importance of getting a flu shot. Through our efforts we were able to reach over 2400 people.
Our chapter also invited the administrator of the Arkansas Prescription Monitoring Program, Dr. Denise Robertson P.D. to educate our students on Arkansas’s recently implemented program. This will be a unique meeting for our chapter as we have also invited all of Harding’s health sciences programs to attend this informational meeting. November was a very busy month for our chapter with our jacket fundraiser, Patient Counseling Competition, and the PharmFlix. Video contest.
